What is Women’s League?

This is a women’s only league offered by Valley of the Sun Ultimate Association (VOTS). The goal of league is twofold:

1. to introduce new players to the sport of Ultimate.
2. to provide a place for women of all levels to play in a competitive, team-oriented atmosphere.

What is Ultimate Frisbee?

Ultimate Frisbee is a high energy, non-contact team sport. It combines elements of many different sports including soccer, basketball, and football. Ultimate is played on a rectangular shaped field with end zones shaped like football end zones. Each team consists of seven players. The disc is passed from teammate to teammate (there is no running/walking with the disc) until somebody catches the disc in the end zone for a score.

When & Where are games held?

• Doubleheaders 7-10pm at Benedict/Tempe Sports Complex. Up to eight nights, 12-16 games.
• Primarily Tuesdays May-July 9 with 3 Thurs. Will conflict (more than 50%) with Del Sol and Remedy practice. Only slight conflict with Rubix and Men's league.
• Schedule is subject to some changes with current tentative schedule of May 5,7 or 12,14,19,26 June 16,30 and July 9.
• Cap at 68 women.

Who can play?

This is primarily an adult league, open to women ages 18 and up. Players who are 16-17 can sign up but must submit a signed parental waiver with their registration. Players under 16 are not eligible to play. To be eligible, players must turn 16 years of age before the end of league.

Do I need to have a team to sign up?

Nope! All players sign up as individuals and are placed on teams in a manner which evens out the number of beginner, intermediate, and advanced players per team.

What do I need to play?

You will need to bring:

1. Non-metal cleats (or tennis shoes if you don't have cleats)
2. A team color shirt (teams have a color and you wear your own shirt of that color)
3. Water (you'll get thirsty)

How much does league cost and how do I sign up?

The cost for league is: $28
Team shirt is NOT included.

Women's League, Summer 2015 Registration

Registration will initially be capped at 68. A wait list will be put into effect *before* the cap is met.

Note: Payment made without filling out the registration form will not count as a registration.

Anything else?

• Alcohol IS permitted on the field in cups and cans. No glass is allowed.
• Any underage participant in violation of the Arizona alcohol consumption laws or any adult participant who furnishes alcohol to or purchases alcohol for an underage participant is subject to immediate suspension from league.
• Under NO circumstances should anybody drive onto the fields. We may lose our rights to reserve fields in the future if anybody drives on the fields.
